INDUSTRY

Infrastructure & Utilities

Keeping essential services running across sites nobody is standing next to

Water networks, substations, rail corridors, ports and council assets share a problem that factories do not. The plant is spread across a catchment or a corridor, it usually runs unattended, and when it stops the consequence is public. A sewer pump station that fails is a spill notification. A feeder that trips is a suburb without power.

Applies to potable and wastewater networks, transmission and distribution, rail and road corridors, port terminals, and council-owned assets.

THE CHALLENGE

What makes this industry different

Understanding the constraint is what determines the right product, not the other way around.

Assets sit where people do not

Pump stations, reservoirs, substations and level crossings are often hours from the nearest depot. Sending someone to read a gauge is a half-day, and the fault is usually already there by the time anyone arrives.

Failure is a public event

There is no production KPI to absorb it. A wet well overflow is an environmental notification, a treatment plant trip is a service interruption, and both come with a regulator attached.

Renewal is staged, never wholesale

Utilities replace a switchboard here and a drive there across long capital programs. New equipment has to work alongside plant that predates it by decades, often without a full set of drawings.

Classified and corrosive as standard

Sewer wells generate hydrogen sulphide. Digesters and biogas plants carry gas. Coastal substations corrode. Ratings, materials and certification are the starting point, not an upgrade.
