Today we get to know a bit more about Scott Bryant, our Operations Manager.

How long have you been working with Pacific Automation?
Just over 10 years – I joined in November 2008.

How has your role changed in that time?
I came to PA to support our then new range of Weidmuller industrial ethernet products in an internal sales/customer support role. Over the next three years that developed into an external sales role and then to a product management role.

In addition to working with Weidmuller, I’ve been involved with several other products in a sales role including Balluff, Leuze, Rechner and Danfoss. In April 2017, I took on the role of Operations Manager, which incorporates the internal functions of the business (internal sales, workshop and logistics). This was a new role in the business and came up during a period of rapid growth. Since then, we’ve incorporated new systems and processes to increase our efficiency in getting the right products to our customer on time.

How has the company changed in that time?
When I joined PA, we had 11 staff and we had just moved in to our new facility in Jandakot, WA. Since then we’ve significantly expanded, with more than double the staff and have opened offices in Brisbane and Melbourne. We’ve also taken on a number of new products to complement our long-term distributorships. We’ve also rebranded the business twice, including our recent update to celebrate our 50th year. While the company has certainly evolved during the 10 years I’ve been here, the core values of the business are still present and on display throughout all our dealings.

What are some of your fondest/funniest memories?
The memories come mainly from staff get-togethers like barbecues and Christmas parties. We’ve had a number of big personalities in the business over the years which have always made for good entertainment. There’s also been lots of events like weddings, children, grandchildren and citizenships which have been great to celebrate as a team.

Anything else you’d like to add?
Being at a company 10 years gives you a great opportunity to look back at how far you’ve come both individually and as a business. It’s been great to see how far we’ve come and also to be make plans to continue growing into the future.
